This visual acuity scale for children can be used to detect vision problems in young children, even those who cannot yet read.
The chart uses shapes that children are familiar with (bird, elephant, horse, airplane) to facilitate measurement, which is performed at a distance of 5 meters.
Each line on the chart corresponds to 1/10th of visual acuity.
This visual acuity test is performed binocularly (the patient uses both eyes) and then monocularly with one eye covered.
